1. There is a permanent magnet at the non drive end of a generator. Rotating magnetic field caused by a permanent magnet passes a small armature winding on the stator and then generates AC voltage sent to Automatic Voltage Regulator.<br><br>2. AVR converts AC voltage into DC voltage and inject DC cuurent to a field winding on the stator. In addition, there is a rotating armature winding on the rotor which generates AC voltage on the rotor when passing magnetic field made by the field winding on the stator.<br>3. AC voltage in item2 will be converted into DC voltage by a bridge rectifier on the rotor.<br>4. Finally, there is a rotating DC current on the rotor. |
